Starting a new contract next week
July 21, 2009 - 12:26 pm (Work)

I signed a contract with Ajilon today to work with a division of DND in Canada. I’m excited!

Ahhh, backgrounding on an iPhone…
July 17, 2009 - 7:34 am (Misc)

I missed this basic feature when I installed firmware 3.0 and lost my jailbreak (for a few weeks). I waited out the period hoping the Backgrounder app available via Cydia would update & support the new OS; and it has, sorta. It’s back to the stage of holding the Home button while running an app to enable backgrounding, but that’s good enough for me.

I spent like 2 hours battling an old version of redsn0w. I didn’t consider multiple versions being released for 1 firmware, but that’s how it works this time around.

Jailbroken, and unlocked… my iPhone is useful again!

PS, Apple … buy the Backgrounder app. It works fantastically, and I’m sure it could be back to it’s old prime state in no time with some of your help.

Camp Fortune is awesome for Downhill Mountain Bikes
July 15, 2009 - 11:11 pm (Bikes)

Seriously, it’s great. Coming from the Nickel Belt of Ontario makes me appreciate technical, tight & fast downhill trails; because there’s not many of em here! Well, that is unless you live near Chelsea, Quebec. Approximately 20 minutes from my home is some of the funnest trails I’ve ridden, on both of my bikes.

On a hardtail you appreciate the flow and technical lines. On a dualie you have many options for drops, jumps and gaps.

I’m going to buy a season pass.

aw:Browser released on avoidwork.com
July 15, 2009 - 11:14 am (Work)

I’ve released aw:Browser v1.0 this morning after doing a few final tweaks. I’ve updated avoidwork.com with future plans for the app. I think it’s a good basis for extension.  I don’t plan to do include a tree hierarchy right now, I don’t feel that they work well on mobile devices like an iPhone or Android phone.

This is my first AJAX/JSON/PHP app released for public use, so I’m looking forward to supporting it and making it better.

avoidwork.com is prepped
July 14, 2009 - 1:25 am (Work)

I’ve spent about 10 hours straight today working on aw:Browser, and I’m calling it quits for the evening. After solving most of the logic problems, I recreated some and right now I’m feeling pretty brain dead.

aw:Browser is my AJAX/JSON file browser. I’ve gotten avoidwork ready for the app launch. Hopefully that’ll be tomorrow.

Starting a new project
July 9, 2009 - 2:36 pm (Work)

I’ve decided to make an AJAX/JSON based file browser that relies on PHP for the object generation. So far my prototype is about 75% done and it’s 10KB total. Sweet!

Hilarious

Classy.

Awesome news today!
July 6, 2009 - 1:02 pm (Work)

I interviewed for a government contract last week, and it went very well. Today I got the great news that they chose me for job; so next week I should be signing the contract. If for some reason that falls through, I have a few other options lined up so things are looking great.

I can’t believe I was stressed for a while.
