I start my new contract. It feels great to be done with the last one, even though there’s still 2 days of retainer left on it. I’m looking forward to working with PHP as my new primary language during this next period. Hopefully I can inject some JavaScript tools into the project; but I’m not 100% sure what my task list will be yet.
The client area is now online at clients.avoidwork.com. From here our clients can manage, track and submit new deliverables.
I felt creative, and went with an idea.
I have the structure and look of avoidwork finished. Now I need to commission a logo because that’s one thing I can’t do and dare not try.
Apparently my solid stats were unappealing and now I’m adless. That’s not a bad thing, but it looks weird to me right now. Hopefully someone picks up the space shortly or I’m going to kill that particular spot and look into alternatives.
This evening more features and content was added to avoidwork.com. Hopefully I won’t be making changes tomorrow; I’m expecting a blank result for NUANS name search.
I quickly rolled v1.2 out the door this afternoon after testing the new version on a different setup; and realized empty directories weren’t being handled properly. There’s still a few changes I’d like to make, which might be released tomorrow.
v1.1 brings a lot of changes to this web app. First of all, it’s now OOP. That’s right, it’s in a namespace. If you do not want it to auto-execute just comment out the last line of the global.js file; it can be initiated via the awBrowser.pageInit() function.
An anchor loading error was also fixed in this revision, which affected all browsers.
A ‘bug’ with Safari persists. The first image loaded from the JSON data will not load the image it’s linked to; and I’m not sure why since the second or onward images link & load properly.
Next step for this JavaScript (AJAX/JSON) file browser will be MIME Type detection and embedding of various file types.
aw:Calendar is a something I cooked up last week, and is based on the code I created for my Portfolio. It’s very easy to deploy into a project/app, it requires 2 steps!
aw:Browser is currently suffering from a bug/design flaw with the latest Firefox (3.0.12). I plan to have a fix out after the weekend! I’ll probably move the code into it’s own namespace at the same time.
I’ve also released aw:Calendar, which is a basic calendar to be used in web apps. It’s encapsulated within it’s own namespace, so there shouldn’t be problems using it with other apps and it’s very easy to re-style. It is 99% ready for use. I discovered a render error with (only) IE8 after it was packaged and online. Fun times! I’ll fix it on Monday prior to working on aw:Browser.
