Jen helped me babysit my little second cousins while their mom was busy at Ottawa General Hospital. It was my first time in the place, and I was a little surprised that the X-ray area was so dark; I wasn’t sure it was open when we entered it.
Eventually Abby’s giggles and Merideth’s stories filled the waiting area with a relaxing vibe. Abby can walk with help, and it was my first time walking a baby. Fun stuff.
Yesterday I agreed to end my work contract with HKXPat.com Ltd. in 4 months from Monday.
I’m excited to find a new job.
We’re moving into a brand new condo that’s still being built on Rideau St. It’s going to be great, I’m very happy we got the place on the first day it was available for viewing because it’s a deal for the amenities included with the lease. We’re going to use the second bedroom for an office, and the reef will go in the ‘den’ area.
I’m going to buy a new tank and stand for the reef. The damaged glass panel will continue to be a problem, like scratches on acrylic the damage continues to grow; so this is the perfect time to get a sick tank in place. I’m probably going to get a 90gl without overflows ’cause I got the CPR refugium and I have to admit I like simplicity over complication in an aquarium system.
Jen and I checked out the opening weekend activities. We walked along the canal with hot chocolate and cameras ready, but there wasn’t much excitement. We eventually made our way to the ice sculpture area, where some smaller sculptures were on display and larger ones were being created. It was packed, and a little frustrating. Lots of people with cell phones were standing in front of the ice.
By the time we got back to my place, we had been walking for approximately 5 hours. I’m surprised my shoulders didn’t hurt more by the time I took my camera pack off; it must weigh around 30lbs.
My flash bracket arrived today! It swings to the right, which is a little uncommon and desirable because it lets me position the flash over the lens when I’m using the second shutter release. I think the metal is a little soft, but it’ll do the job.

I installed an ATI HD4350 video card in my htpc last night; and around 2am I had given up on trying to get 5.1 outta it. I’m pretty sure the software config is the only real problem because the EDID is detected properly; and the old sound card had some kind of layer in place to matrix audio automatically.
I’m hoping this didn’t turn out to be a waste of money and time. Tonight I’m going to reinstall the operating system and start fresh.
