Last night I finally caught a hockey game. Detroit was rocking the Penguins pretty good all game. I’m looking forward to the next meeting.
Work has been pretty good lately. With that recent audit things seem to be shifting towards the direction I was hoping we were going in.
Tonight is ‘movie night’ with Jen. I’m not sure what we’re going to watch, but it should be fun anyway.
I found a new bread maker selling for $25 so I bought it. I didn’t try to haggle ’cause it was still wrapped in the factory packaging; it was definitely worth the asking price. Jen and I found some cds at a great price. I picked up 4 for $10, she got 6 for $15.
An audit came back and it validated everything I said about a hellish project from last summer. Feels good, cause I added info to it that makes things look even better for me.
I put the background on the tank yesterday with Jen’s help. I’m going to hang the light fixture from the ceiling this week.
Last night I picked up a Jobmate hammer drill because it came with a decent set of bits; and you can never have too many spares. After measuring everything twice I had the shelf anchors in the wall within minutes. Hammer drills kick ass! The shelf went together perfectly, and I think it was a great addition to the room. I need to get a couple of accessories for it, and generally the kitchen will be done. Needs more metal!
I might put some black filigree trim around the top of the cupboards to offset the paint and really make the cherry wood pop.
My next task is getting the projector screen up, so at some point during the weekend I’ll take care of that.
I also setup ATSC reception for Canada in Media Center thanks to this blog and this channel list. I’m getting amazing reception of CBC-HD; the antenna is pretty close. I’m going to get a DB2 antenna, which will hopefully pick up some of the others.

Last night I planned to install some shelves in my kitchen and discovered one of the inside walls is concrete. I tried drilling into it but I don’t have a masonry bit or a hammer drill, so 2 of the 3 holes turned out good. It seems that this building has it’s … issues, because the third hole found an odd paint bubble and soft drywall. Fail.
So, today I’m planning on getting a few things today, move the shelf up or down a little (fill the visible hole, hide two) and move onto the next apartment mod.
Last night I took a trip to the local Ikea and picked up everything I went for; and more. The tiny Muddus table (white/silver) was in stock! Decision time. There was no chairs that looked amazing and were space savers so I ended up getting 2 folding JEFF chairs as temp solutions. I also picked up a few pieces of a kitchen rail system which I’m really looking forward to installing.
The living room needs a rug and it’s generally done, not including art for the walls. I got the simple coffee table set I wanted. This apartment is coming together nicely.
Last night I went to dinner at an awesome Vietnamese restaurant a few blocks away, then came back to my place and watched the Deep Ocean episode of Planet Earth. Jen’s never seen the series, so an 80″ 1080p display is a excellent way to show how amazing it is.
Jen left a bit after the tv show was over; I was ready to sleep. The food and after dinner joint hit me like it was Thanksgiving. I wish my story ended there, but now it just gets lame. I noticed the Xbox360 wasn’t getting online and I didn’t know why. I had switched from a wireless lan back to wired that afternoon for streaming hd content and live tv; so it should’ve been problem free. After changing the cat5 cable and moving the router to work with the new shorter cable, I didn’t make much progress past a dhcp lease but no actual lan activity. I gave up. I wanted to sleep.
When I got into my bed I started stressing about bills. I have no idea why, I was having one of those nights where your mind keeps racing when you just need to relax and drift off.
I decided to get out of bed after about 40 mins of tossing/turning and decided to pay those bills online (hah!). I checked usenet to see what was released and downloaded a few tv shows; packed a few whips for the vape and stayed up far too late.
Zombie Monday!
