I decided it was a good decision to get a laptop prior to moving because I’d be bringing less. Less is good. I chose a dual core AMD Turion (TL-58 I think) based Compaq. My old laptop was a Compaq, and I enjoyed it greatly after upgrading the hdd to a fast 7200rpm model (Seagate Momentus). I chose a model that came with a lightscribe burner, 2gb of ram and a black case. The color was important.
No really. Who wants a laptop that they can’t look at and think “that’s badass”.
So, like usual the thing was loaded with bloatware. I’m going to do a fresh Vista Ultimate install on it tomorrow or Sunday, and start using it as my primary system, ASAP.
I’m thinking that I’ll bring my kick ass Samsung monitor to use as a bedroom tv, maybe hooked up to my XBMC running Xbox. I need to get a 2x hdd NAS enclosure; so I can reuse two 500gb hdds in a Raid 1 config for my A/V files. I’ll keep the third external for the laptop as a backup device or something.
I decided it was time to organize my work assignments better, so I went with a solid basecamp alternative that I can host on my own server. Bonus, no monthly fees; just a flat price.
I am very happy with the interface and organization options. I’ve already setup my work log for AsiaXPAT and will be using it for any free lance work in the future. I hope the AX boys can make the transition; I think it’ll take a little time.
Update: Going to hold off on this until we start our next major project.
The band, not the show. So good.
After work I cracked a beer and jumped onto the couch. I was planning on burning a few hours watching tv, then go to Jay & Dan’s place to hang out for a bit ’cause Travis was going over. However, Adam from across the hall knocked and asked for help with his computer. His ex girlfriend moved out and she took the router and cat5 cable. He’s not familiar with computers, so he needed a little help. I called the isp to have the host cleared on the cable modem and got him a spare cat5 cable. He was online in about 10 minutes. As a thanks he started making rum mixes. Good stuff.
We chatted about our ex’s, work and eventually music for a few hours. I ended up going over to Chris & Shauny’s around 9 for a little social smoke. We were on the balcony because they bought a house this week, and are now “airing out” the smoke room. Fun, cold times.
When I got home, I was officially loaded. I think the hours of drinking and then a little smoke with no dinner really hit me hard. Not a bad tuesday.
This lovely restaurant serves Chinese, Japanese and Korean dishes. The food is excellent and the presentation is great. I highly recommend eating here if you have the opportunity.
It’s newly renovated and under new ownership. It has all the amenities I was looking for. I think I’ll get an lcd tv and retire the projector because it won’t work good.
I was having a really shitty sleep tonight, it’s still only 5:30am. I had turned up the heat in the apartment last night at some point which is always a mistake. The heat from the four floors below eventually cooks me if I turn my heat on.
Anyways, shitty sleep leads to waking up easily from lame dreams. So, lying in bed I decided it was time to erase those files. It’s not like I can look back on the them and “remember the good times” cause I realized there weren’t many good times involving the times those pictures were taken. Mostly drama around my anxiety, lack of support and absolutely no pics of just us doing something on our own; cause we never did. I recalled the ‘arm candy’ slash ‘tag along’ feeling I constantly had with her so why the hell hang on to that?
I kept one nice picture I took. One’s enough. There’s a good chance blog entries prior to October’07 will have busted images. Oh well.
He was explaining earlier this week (late last maybe?) how lifting to a count of 15 causes you to use more surrounding muscle fibers compared to a fast lift. I’m not sure if that’s very accurate right now, but damn does it kill you. Sets of 5 at my usual weight; which is already hard enough to lift just fucking destroyed me. I could only do 2 sets in rotation. My chest hasn’t felt this ripped in a long time. My lats and neck really felt the burn with lat pull downs.
This was my only day in the gym, so once I hit 730 calories on the elliptical I hopped off. I’ve been losing weight slowly while eating like shit so my metabolism is back up. Sweet news. I still got a soft tummy from basically 2 weeks of no work and lots of sugar. Shrug. I think I can drop it in under a week easily.
M&M Meats has the best veggie burgers I’ve ever tasted. With a little garnish they make a great low cal/fat lunch. Much better than take out daily.
I ordered this fixture on December 02/07. I just got the package of replacement lights / legs yesterday. I think that’s the last time I buy a light off ebay. So far, I’m really happy with it. It runs silent due to the design, so that’s a really nice change from what I’m used to. It’s 2 x 54w T5 high output, 2 x 150w metal halide hqi and has 2 led banks that can be angled/rotated.
I think the anemone will move lower in the tank now, it’s been stretching to the surface for months.
I’m totally going old now. It’s all downhill. HAH!
Somehow, I think gray might look good on me if this color change continues.
