Not happy with my last Headstage order
January 23, 2008 - 1:23 pm (Misc)

I ordered (and paid in full in November) for a second usb dac cable that was supposed to have female rca connectors on it. The idea was i’d plug it into a pc, and then use some good interconnects to hook the pc into my tube gear.

The cable arrived today with the cheapest set of male rca connectors. I know the price of the cable they came off it, it’s not even $2.00.

I waited for 2 months, and got the wrong connection. What the fuck. Return/refund; never ordering from again.

Car pc install

I finally got the pics off my cellphone of Chris’ car pc install. A few things have changed since they were taken.

Gym update and killer bed head

Bed head

My skurk face & hair. Jacob pulls off that look so well.

Alright, so gym news. Chris talked me into going up an intensity level on the elliptical so now we’re both doing a “fat burner” of alternating 9/10 difficulty for 15 mins. I’d love to know what algorithm the machine uses to calculate the calorie burn; however I still hit my usual 700-800 range (741.2). It was fucking hell. 15 mins of what felt like pushing my freeride/black diamond bike up a super steep incline. Jen’s gonna fear my cardio hah.

I ate like total shit last week without even realizing it, so I climbed back above 160lbs for pretty much the whole week. This morning I’m back into the 150s which is sweet. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to hold this for a few more weeks if I’m smart about what I eat and continue to hammer my cardio. I’ve been cutting out excess saturated fats on top of watching my calorie and sugar intake; which means I’ve switched to veggie burgers. It was a monumental decision when I picked up that box of frozen, veggie stuffs. Change is good I guess. My heart should be in better shape long term.

Dinner last night was great

Pam

Having a meal at Pam’s house was nostalgic. It was very nice to share a meal with her, Jason and Bobby. Derek (Jason’s younger bro) was MIA, apparently there’s some family drama going on right now. Too bad.

Busy weekend

Jason and Wade

Where to start; after work on Friday I decided I’d stay in and do a bunch of needed cleaning ’cause people were going to be coming over Saturday night. I hadn’t really cleaned since before Christmas, so there was a lot to do. I didn’t really do that much though, cause I had bought a couple of grams of weed a few days earlier so I ended up smoking a few joints over the course of the night and watched a movie.

Saturday, I cleaned. I also got food! Groceries; I needed them. I was down to rice and some chicken in the freezer; a few meals at the most. The apartment looks great, I found space for my second bike in the storage room so the living room seems very huge now. It’s nice.

Wade showed up first on Saturday. I was trying to finish the wax job on Chris’ snowboard when he arrived. We ended up watching a movie while we waited for other peeps to show up. It was pretty enjoyable. Wade’s got a bit of anxiety problem so I guess it could’ve been an experience. I usually don’t talk much when a movie’s on. When Jason and Dan arrived, we had already smoked a joint and I was on my third or forth beer. Jason had a pretty entertaining story about some guy putting the moves on Dan. I told him if a dude was doing that to my girl I’d have words with him. Jason alluded to that not being his style. Shrug.

We ended up watching the UFC event. It was pretty good this time around. The main match with BJ Penn was great; there was a lot of blood from a forehead cut that he inflicted. At some point Wade wanted to turn up the volume, but he was clicking the button instead of holding it for a short burst. I recommended he try that, and he ended up blowing my center speaker (Paradigm CC-370). It was an unfortunate accident. I’m going to bring the speaker to the local Paradigm dealer to see what it’ll cost to have it repaired.

I had dinner with Jason and his mom, Pam tonight. It was great. I haven’t eaten at her table since sometime in early 2001. Pam and her long time boyfriend Bobby filled me in on a lot of stories of things I had missed over the years. Good times.

Chilled at home last night

Cool candle holder

After work I did a bunch of much needed cleaning. Today I’m going to finish that cleaning, sigh. I’m still in the vacation mind set. I discovered the flash works much better when the body is in manual mode with p-ttl.

My net has been up and down. It sucks.

Waxing pt.2

Chris’ board has a fresh coat of wax. It’s outside cooling. I’ll probably scrape it tomorrow because it’s not fun to do after 11pm.

I also ran the flash in auto mode and figured out how to work it. I like it much more this way than relying on the P-TTL mode.

Group shot

This is not as good as I had wanted, but it was done at 4:50 while we were all rushing so I can’t complain either. I need a stronger tripod hehe.

Boring day
January 16, 2008 - 8:27 pm (Misc - Work)

Work was kinda slow going. They’re going a little SEO crazy I think. It’s good that they realize it’s important, but I think they need to pull back a little and learn about it if they’re going to dictate what changes are made. Or, atleast put them into 1 round of revision so everyone’s clear why somethings are dropped. I think they could benefit from the little bit of learning so they can make better decisions in the long run; which would be more profitable because they’d understand how things work and could exploit it to their full potential.

Pipe dream maybe? Shrug.

Lunch was fun, as usual when Blair is present. Matt’s wife is hilarious and head strong; a dangerous combo that can rock.

I chatted entirely too much about anime to Jen, who has no real experience with it. Nerd moment.
