I really hate the t-bar lifts at that hill. It’s a fine, small bump of a place to play, and the middle/right side is pretty fun if you’re going fast; but the t-bar always kills it for me.
Ok, that’s my complaining for today. The riding was pretty sweet today. There wasn’t many people out, a few other good riders on the hill and maybe 20cm of fresh snow. I got my first chance to really test out the new Capita board and it was so fucking amazing. I consistently lost Chris on the hill if we had equal or close to equal starting speed (I was able to overtake a few times). It carves excellently; handles pretty much all conditions well and is snappy still. I’ve never had a board that did everything perfectly before, so uh… yeah. Buy a Capita if you ride.
I have a dinner date type event tonight with Chris & Shauny, Christine (THiNK) and Jen. Chris also found my recap of last night .. cute. Sigh.
I decided I wanted a new Ipod nano, so I went and found a black one. I like it very much. I don’t know if I’ll keep my little Zen Stone around for a backup; it might still be useful. I also grabbed a usb wireless nic for my desktop comp so I could move it in my bedroom and change things around a bit. The nic is 108Mb g spec, so it should be fast enough for what I need because my soho is also the same speed/spec. All in the family!
I hung out with family that I haven’t seen in years and had a wonderful time. My little second cousin is adorable and it was just great to see everyone. Everyone seemed pretty cool with my tats considering they’re a pretty straight bunch; heh family rocks.
I spent Christmas Eve alone at my place. It was different; I’m used to a pretty large family gathering at Maegan’s but that’s not happening anymore hah. It was always super stressful, so not a big loss; but I do miss the peeps. They were nice. So, yesterday I smoked the last bit of weed I had and watched movies and Top Gear. Ford Mondeo got car of the year! Bahahaha!
Due to the quiet night I’m up pretty early. Since it’s Christmas, I guess that’s ok; however it’s still super boring. So boring, I think I’ll be calling my grandparents and joining them at church for mass. They do the Christmas eve/day mass; so either they’ve gone or will be going today. Playing the odds here. I still need to wrap my misc gift for the swap. Someone is getting a hot chocolate combo box which I’d be pretty happy to keep. I hope I don’t get more mugs; I always end up with mugs somehow.
Jen came by around 8. I had smoked a pinner before she arrived, so I was already in a pre-party mood. She brought a big Heineken champagne bottle so we drank from flutes and played guitar hero. I tried the dlc I got from Live and rocked the Dropkick Murphys song.
Around 10pm we left for the bar. I noticed Dave as we entered and he joined us by the pool tables, where we sat for most of the night in a rotation almost. The bar filled up with people wearing sweaters and blazers; some kind of theme night by the new college/university kids, or something. A bunch of friends showed up over the night and it was great. Leah and Sarah were the last to arrive I think. I hadn’t seen Sarah in like, 5 years I think. Too long. Everyone had a camera it seemed, so lots of drunk pics. Dave got one of me pissing in the bathroom. It seemed to annoy/concern the guy beside me while I laughed.
The other Dave (Heaton) arrived with Ryan (Keebler) which kicked ass. I hadn’t seen Keebler in at least 6 months. At some point Dave dropped his beer while we were standing and the bar cheered. The guy that cleaned it up didn’t seem to mind too much.
A lot of people asked about the new tats. It was pretty fun.
Getting food, and then home was an adventure. Dave (H) and I walked to the Pita Pit a few blocks over while Ryan drove Jen and Christine. When we got there, we discovered a giant line up so we decided to walk a few more blocks over to a Sub City; which was also very busy. The crowd was a little different but generally alright. My sub was good, I don’t know about Jen’s. She alluded to it being ok, but we were pretty drunk so maybe I heard it wrong. We walked back to where Ryan had parked and talked about who would get a ride. It wasn’t Jen and I, which sucked but also made sense. Getting a cab appeared to be impossible so we walked back to my place.
It took about 30-45 minutes. When we got here, we passed on having an after party smoke/drink because it was 4:20(!) but we were dead.
I slept till almost noon. Jen said I was snoring. We went for lunch at a bar/diner up a few blocks from my place called Eddies and I had a killer omelette. Jen’s meal also looked good; it was some kind of tomato sandwich. After we ate we ended up at Chris and Shauny’s for a few hours.
Last night rocked. Now for a quiet day before Christmas.
I just ordered myself a Pentax AF540FGZ and a DA* 16-50mm. Originally I was going to get a strobe kit, but when I factored in the cost of portable batteries this seemed like a much better purchase for overall options. The strobes will be next, probably in a couple of months.
I’m going to get something very cool around my neck. I’d love to say what, but I think it might be a first so I don’t want anyone else doing it before I can. My appointment is Friday at noon, should be getting inked by 12:30!
I finally crashed from lack of sleep last night. I really don’t have a common sleep pattern since I got hit in summer so it’s not uncommon for me to be up at 5am and going to bed a bit after midnight most nights lately. However, that doesn’t change the fact that I need around 7-8hr of sleep to function properly.
Since mid last week I had been missing about 2hrs of sleep a day; and last night I was out at 8pm. I woke up every few hours to get a drink of water, and overall I feel well rested. Unfortunately, I think I caught a cold at the tat parlor yesterday ’cause I’m feeling those initial symptoms. It couldn’t be a worse time! Jen’s coming to town Saturday and then it’s Christmas. I’m hoping this passes very quickly.
I’ve been up for about an hour now. I’m gonna try to go back to sleep for another two; maybe that’ll help a little.
