We went on a pretty long ride (for Maegan) today after work. After almost 1.5 hours we were on our way back toward the city and decided to jump onto a fire road to go get dinner. Along the way Maegan decided to jump some rocks (kick ass) but unfortunately the front bolt on skewer must’ve rattled loose a little because when she got airborne the wheel shifted to the side like it dropped a little, and on impact the bit of skewer still in the end cap ripped the threads and sent her over the bars onto the rocks shoulder first.
I saw the aftermath and thought she had broken her arm, but luckily only the skewer was permanently broken. We had to walk home which sucked. I’m going to put my spare Azonic skewers on her bike; they’re beefy.
I went on a 4 - 4.5 hour ride with Chris and Curt yesterday. We did a 30km+ circuit on a few trails that sorta connect, including Curt’s first time down a tow line run on an abandoned ski hill. Unfortunately that portion of the ride sucked. Two years ago the tow line was smooth and had knee high grass. Yesterday it was mostly rutted out and kinda shifty on a hard tail; I’m used to bombing it on my dualie.
Anyways, my shoulder didn’t bug me during the ride and that rocked. My strength is lacking on my left side right now, but I’m hoping to get it back asap. I’m going to call my Dr. on Friday to see if he’s had a chance to look at my ultrasound. If everything is okay I want to start weight training possibly next weekend. I’ll have to start at virtually nothing for my left side, but I’m hoping to bounce back quickly.
Maegan asked me to shoot some new pics for her facebook page, so I obliged. She’s a fun model. I wish we had planned a little more. I took a few nice pics (above), however I’d love to get some studio lights for a proper indoor shoot.
I won’t know until next week if I have serious muscle damage, but the ultrasound looked good. However, I have no experience reading an ultrasound hehe.
I took my camera along and biked to the xray lab, so I snapped a bunch of pictures on my way home. I got a few nice ones.
With the latest drivers I’ve been able to clock my gpus almost 50mhz faster, and my ram around 80mhz faster. This is pretty sweet because it hasn’t been possible before within Vista. Chris got a 2600HD Pro for around $200 locally, and I think it might rival my crossfire setup which is kinda shitty but also cool ’cause I could do another crossfire.
He found my physio experience to be very funny; especially the part where I mentioned they want me to go in three times a week after finding out I was involved in a car accident. I bet insurance money is easy to charge. He had me move my arm in 2 very different ways and concluded that I had muscle damage but that there was nothing to do except let it heal. He scheduled an ultrasound for next week to be sure, but I’m confident that he’s correct. My arm feels much better since doing the simple physio stretches.
I took my camera along for the trip and got a few nice pictures.
I finished fixing the Launch up this week. The front brake caliper adapter went on and it’s now silent and deadly. Too bad I won’t be riding it this year.
I got back from physio awhile ago. They think I completely ripped a rotary cuff muscle and might need surgery. I have to go in 3x a week until i’m better. My shoulder muscles are atrophying, so that’s playing a major role in my limitation right now and I seriously hope that’s the reason I failed some muscle tests.
The assessment person also believes my bicep is partially ripped from it’s tendon near my shoulder since it’s half of the pain now.
I’m so bummed. My summer is over.
I’m taking the rest of the day off from work. I’m having a hard time dealing with some emotions right now.
I have to admit, I’m a little scared to find out what condition my shoulder is in. I have an appointment in a little over 2 hours from now for an assessment. It’s nice outside, so I think I’m going to walk and bring my camera. I haven’t really been able to shoot since I got hit and I’m starting to get an itch. This city isn’t pretty year round.
