My shoulder muscles are seriously fucked up. However, I’m sure I could be in a lot less discomfort today if I hadn’t gone on a “light xc” bike ride with Curt, Chris, his brother & friends. I had roughly 90% mobility with just a little stiffness prior to the ride; which turned out to be the most technical xc ride I’ve ever been on.
I was sloppy for a moment and ended up in a rut in a rock face, and couldn’t lift my tire out because of my shoulder so I ended up falling. I can’t explain the pain of that, but 2 days later I’m still feeling it.
I hope my order of BioFreeze comes in today. I could really use it.
My left arm/shoulder is still very painful. At some point when that car hit me a week ago my arm must’ve been pulled very quickly to a side as the fork spun / I went flying. Either way, I’ve had a gimpy arm for a week. I can move my arm in most directions, except straight in front of me at shoulder height. I can barely hold it up for 3 seconds before it drops and I clutch my shoulder that’s generating massive amounts of pain.
The muscle feels extremely stiff even when my arm is hanging, so I think I have a few more weeks of gimpness before I’m able to do things like put on deodorant (without doing odd body bends to make my arm reach).
Chris gave me a couple of sample packets of a product called BioFreeze. I want more of it! I tried Rub A535 on my shoulder and it didn’t penetrate the muscle, while this BioFreeze stuff goes down to the bone and it feels sooooooo good. I have enough for one more application which I’m saving for tomorrow morning. It’s going to suck relying on ibuprofen for the next few days.
It appears that all of the fish and inverts enjoy the increase in water flow. Today I setup an angled circular pump configuration so there wasn’t any chaotic currents because there’s a large amount of energy in a small amount of space.
The clowns rock.
i got hit by a car today. dumbass kid from alberta not looking right while turning right onto a street, 3 peeps in the car (1 looking directly at me as i approach) and they accelerate full speed into me at like 10-20km while i’m going through a crosswalk on the green (there’s no bike path). i had a couple of feet between us as i pass in front. so he sends me flying say 5ft at an angle into the intersection, take it on my left elbow and shoulder absorbs the energy (totally ripped/f’ed right now), slide a little. bike goes 5-10ft into the intersection after landing and sliding, i swear at the guy.
he takes off without saying a word.
a guy calls an ambulance, they come, cops come .. while taking my statement the (edited) drives by and runs again.
they catch him, charge him with the equivalent of a hit & run.
his statement reads that i was going 50km (maybe 10km tops, i was going running speed) and i ran into him. my fork clearly shows where his bumper hit me and there’s simply no way i could’ve run into him, it was a side impact.
the cop that responded was in a few hs classes, so he gave me a copy of the report so i could use it in the future if i need it for health insurance shit.
my fork appears to be fine.
so glad i know how to fall. left elbow has a pretty deep impact cut and i have road rash from wrist to ankle from the slide.
I ordered two Hydor Koralia 3 pumps last week after a lot of consideration regarding what was wrong with my setup. I came to the conclusion that the water movement was simply too slow and it was creating a lot of different problems regarding the chemistry.
The water turn over has changed from 490gph to 1700gph (not counting the skimmer). That’s a pretty drastic upgrade, and well needed I think. I’ve also removed my Emperor 280 filter and put a carbon pouch in the outlet box of my skimmer. The filter moved roughly 280gph thru a carbon cartridge that caught food; not bad. The skimmer pump moves 350gph straight into the carbon sitting in the outlet box; much better.
One pump ended up on back order and shipped yesterday. I’m hoping it’ll come in tomorrow, but Monday or Tuesday might be more realistic.
I’m going to put my skimmer near the middle of the tank along the back wall and have the two Koralia in the top corners pointing down toward the middle of the tank
I think I cut it on either potato chips or day old pizza with hard pepperoni. Either way, this sucks. I usually don’t complain about pain, but it feels like I got my tongue pierced.
Anyways, silly picture to remember this by.
They were all in my reef, and they were pests. I wish I had known that I had an infestation of a pest anemone called Mojano (similiar to Aiptasia). I also wish that the store I bought the rock from, which had the original anemone had told me what the fuck it was or, I dunno .. removed it from the rock before putting in their show tanks?!
Anyways, it turns out they’re the reason my really beautiful Yuma Ricordia is barely staying alive today, and god knows what else they had affected while in my tank.
Yesterday during a long conversation with Dave, he identified it and posted on reefcentral for validation. Apparently the best way to kill them is with a Kalk. paste, which is unavailable locally. I ended up breaking the rocks they were on in half to physically remove them from the tank. Hopefully they didn’t drop eggs anywhere, but I’ll have to keep my eye out for em over the next few months.
I came across a green bristle worm that was around 10cm long. It was inside one of the rocks I broke, and it was kinda freaky. I removed it by putting the part of the rock it had fallen out of under cold running freshwater and waited until most of it had fallen out. I then used tweezers to quickly grab and remove the entire body; making sure I got the head.

I’m a die hard fan; I think. Tonight, I’m at home with many beer while my girl is at work and after hours of guitar based music coming through my tubes (amp) I decided to put on Everything Everything. Simply floored by how good Underworld was. I haven’t viewed this dvd in years, nor have I really listened to the cds I have in my collection. I guess I just moved on in music taste? Shrug.
This is poetry to original music. It does not get any better, considering the visuals these guys came up with. To bad Emerson left; it killed the group.
Hyde’s ability to push out words without taking a noticable breath is truely unreal. I think these guys found the timeless quality that escapes many groups.

Off to jail for you whore.
We were kinda bored at home last night so Maegan suggested we go for a walk. I suggested we go to a creek near by, because there’s usually a lot of ducks there.
When we arrived I was happy to find there was more than a lot, it must’ve been a duck orgy. I offered my camera to Maegan and she fired off around 100 shots with a few keepers.
We made our way to a park a few blocks down a street and were treated to a small fish jumping out of a lake multiple times trying to get something on the surface. We both assumed the lake was completely dead, what a surprise!
I think I’m going to send my *ist DL body to Pentax Canada for repairs so she can have a DSLR to use whenever she wants.
