I’m a closet fan of this movie. I was very young when it came out, and my first viewing was uninspiring due to my age. The re-releases over the years have not peaked my interest, because well .. it’s just the same thing with shitty edits here and there. Not my cup of tea (the edits).
This is supposed to be the definitive Director’s Cut and in HD, so it’s win/win!
Maegan’s older sister Elle was in town and came over to watch the fights. Those two had the best commentary for the fighters and Joe Rogan (who didn’t seem as coked out as usual). I ended up smoking a few cannons with Chris on the balcony during most of the fights, and at some point we all forgot that he had put a pepsi in the fridge freezer when he arrived.
I found the mess the next day. Thank god it’s a diet, it’s easy to clean up.
We picked up Maegan’s bike yesterday and she rode it home. It’s unreal how perfectly sized it is for her. Specialized is definitely on to something with their women specific frames.
Last night after work I went for a ride with Chris in the city. I suggested we go to the Townehouse for a beer, which turned into a couple of pitchers. After the buzz set in, we took the bikes to his place for a puff.
Good times.
I saw this bike in the shop last week and I’ve been thinking about it since I took the fiend out yesterday. Today Maegan came to The Outside Store with me and rode the bike a little to see how it fit. I did an instant purchase after she hopped on and it turned out to be nearly perfect. The price point is a little bit above $500, which is right in line with an introductory bike which can handle the local trails.
The fork is pretty low end, there’s no denying that. I’ll probably be replacing it with a short stroke Marzocchi next year.
I took the bike out for it’s first trail ride today and it was very good. The fork loosened up a bit and was sliding smoothly. The brakes are really starting to bite, and the fork now makes an odd echo when the pads first engage the rotor.
I’m considering getting Maegan a Specialized Hardrock Sport Women’s Disc now because I want to take the fiend out for rides with her.
Camp was fun as always. I went fishing with Mike and caught my first (small) large mouth bass. Much beer was drank, and I got to cook with fire!
The tequila Maegan and Elle picked up took it’s toll on everyone. The temperature dropped overnight to around 3 Celcius, which is very cold when you don’t have a sleeping bag.
Lots of beer will be drank. We’re going to camp. Maegan’s going to stay until Monday and I think I’m going to come home Sunday so I can get work done. I’d like to go biking Monday for most of the day.
Well, I got my fiend together and it rides oh so well but a few issues have become very apparently.
1 - Truvativ howitzer/gxp bottom brackets are fucking stupid. Use standard spacing you fucktards. I cannot use my Blackspire chain guide, and there’s only 1 shitty option from Truvativ.
2 - Sram cannot make a front derailleur. Hey, that high limit screw doesn’t actually let me limit the shift to 2 rings! That’s fucking brilliant! Good job Sram!
The lesson of the day kids is that if you know a brand works and you’re happy with their components don’t experiment with something new and cool, because it’s going to suck and be a huge waste of your money. Down $300. Yay.
