Fun friday
For the first time since my client launched their website; one of their primary dbs is offline because it’s full. I want to say “I told you so”, but watching it stay offline for hours is more entertaining. I don’t happen to manage this aspect of the database server anymore, as of a few months ago (see mention of job hunt); and yet in the 8 years that I was responsible for it we never ran out of space or had a 14GB (gigabyte) transaction log which took down all of the advertising network wide.
This has been sitting on all of the sites for atleast 3 hours now “The log file for database ‘BanManProSQL’ is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space.”
That killer backup strategy which I was against is really working out for them.
