I picked up a coral beauty lastnight from the local salt water shop. It’s a dwarf angel fish and can be a pain in a reef tank. Luckily I only have 2 soft corals, and no sps; so there’s nothing for it to pick at really except the rocks (for algae).
I’ll get a picture off it in a few days when it’s not so shy. Currently, it hides more than my sunrise dottyback.
I had a ph crash going on Christmas, which was not fun. Over the week I’ve gotten the water back to where it should be and I definitely learned my lesson about staying on schedule for tank maintanence. My pulsing xenia nearly died, and today it’s starting to look like it used to; nearly fully inflated and it’s back to the pink/purple color.
We’re going to Toronto for New Years eve to party with Maegan’s sisters (and boyfriends). I’m gonna hang out with Ben on Saturday probably; he invited us over to watch UFC66 which is great ’cause I want to see it and I haven’t seen Ben in almost 2 years.
I’ve over fed my reef water so there’s lots of algae for everyone to eat while we’re gone for the 2 days.
I just scored an ATI X1950Pro PCIE video card with $150 off the msrp. Tomorrow when the stores are open I’ll probably get a few toys or movies.
We went to Maegan’s parents house for Christmas. It was a pretty fun night, but it seemed to go on forever because there isn’t a lot to do there, and we were waiting on people to arrive; and then leave.
They open gifts Christmas eve, so we had to wait until some short stay guests left.
My pc is completely unstable now, randomly freezing. I’m not sure if it’s the SNMP client(?) or the driver that came thru windows update. It sucks.
Update: I resolved the issue by uninstalling the D-Link software, and using the Microsoft driver.

I put a gigabit nic into my comp this morning. I’ve been dealing with the onboard nic for far too long. It maxes out around 3MB/s which is somewhere around 30-40Mb/s; hardly spiffy. Going with a 108Mb/s wnic didn’t seem like much of an upgrade because I’d only be approaching the ceiling of the onboard nic.
I’m just curious about how D-Link went from crap to quality. My DGL-4300 (wireless router) and DGE-503T (nic) rock.
ROCK!
First day of christmas vacation, no snow and 0c = 2hr ride.
I’m horribly out of shape and I need a new drive train on my Launch. I might get a few more rides in before winter sets in and I’m delegated to my snowboard. My toys take care of me.
Last night we went to Chris & Shauny’s to exchange gifts. I got a gift certificate for Petsmart (aquarium supplies) and a 52mm Hoya ND8 filter which rocks! I can’t wait to shoot wide open in the sun with this mofo. Unfortunately; I told Chris the wrong size (I shoot with my 50mm prime / 49mm filter size the most), so I found the ebay seller he got it from and purchased a 49mm filter.
Summer photography shall rock this year!
Maegan got gift certificates for gas; being a starving student that drives daily to school this is an excellent present!
We gave Chris a certificate for Canadian Tire, he has too many tools to randomly buy something; and gave Shauny a certificate for Chapters because she likes to read.
I picked up a Logitech Harmony X360 universal remote lastnight and I love it. It works with everything, and the macro building interface is extremely easy to work with. I just need to rewire my rack so everything is controlled thru the receiver instead of the component switch box.
Maegan and I went to Science North last night to take pictures of their Christmas display. Unfortunately it was very windy and raining lightly, so we stayed a short time; and I missed the largest display (it turns off at 11pm).
Most of the lights were good, a few were creepy (see above). All LED.
I took Maegan to meet my Grand Parents today. She was a little nervous but quickly got over it; they’re very friendly. There was an emotional welcome because I haven’t seen them in a couple of years (too long).
They moved to a new house, and it’s very nice. It’s in a good part of an outlying community.
They liked Maegan.
