Chris, Bernie and Scott got their product out to the world today. It should be huge based on the unique niche it falls into, and the complete lack of competition. conceptshare.com.

I finally got a picture of the dottyback!

This fucker is extremely shy and fast so this was pretty sweet to get.

An early christmas present
November 28, 2006 - 8:25 am (Misc - Photography - Work)

This past Sunday I purchased Chris’ Starmate R Sirius receiver with home and car kits. He upgraded to a new portable unit and offered me his old (under a year) equipment for half retail price. I was going to get Maegan a car unit for christmas, so I took the offer.

I intended to hide it for a month and install it a couple of days before christmas, but she has a lot of school work over the next couple of weeks as she gets closer to exams; so I gave it to Sunday evening. She can listen to music while doing school work thru headphones, freeing me to not use ‘phones to watch tv in the living room. Atleast that’s my ideal result.

I’ve also restarted avoidwork.com with a clear plan for the web app. It’ll be console game related, and hopefully it’ll be useful for a lot of people. I plan to be working on it while Maegan is doing her school work, so that’ll keep me busy during most evenings for the next week or two. Once version 1 is live I can take a few weeks to complete version 2.

Vonage makes it to Sudbury (finally)

I got a local number today! I think I have the first one in the exchange because it’s 1001. Good stuff.

FU Amazon

Amazon’s lack of bandwidth fucked me over today; along with millions of other people I’m sure. I actually got to the check out (like a bunch of people) only to find it was sold out. Wtf. How is that even possible? 1000 transactions in a minute while the site is lagging. $99 Xbox 360s are apparently a very hot item. sigh.

I got the screen!

The projector screen came in Monday, and went up the same day. It took me a couple of days to get a pic of it though. I love it! It was cheap (softmagic fucking rocks!) and appears to be as good or better than the various similiar products I could get thru the local audio/videophile shop.

The vinyl smell sucks, but it’s slowly going away.

Monday mornings…

I blew up at John today regarding our local system support in HK, specifically their inaction and odd actions. It’s been an issue for years, and I had enough of it. I hope they’re gone.

Starfish

Starfish

I picked up a very cool starfish today when I went to the lfs with Chris. I was planning on getting crab shells only at first. This is also the first photo I’ve processed from raw to flickr in linux and it wasn’t bad at all.

Fedora core 6 is nice

I’ve spent some time over the last 2 days configuring a fc6 install on a spare hard drive, and it’s so good I’m considering running it full time. I just need to work out the windows virtualization situation before I can do it full time. I think I’d need to purchase the Turbo Linux printer drivers.

I think I’m done riding for the season
November 17, 2006 - 9:21 am (Bikes - Photography)

Every morning until there’s snow on the streets, I ride my downhill bike (norco launch) to work. I leave the front door of my building and sprint for a good 1:30+ across the parking lot and down the hill in a big backwards S which has 2 blind corners. It’s interesting usually, and gets my blood pumping so I can sit at work all day.

This morning I slid out due to a large amount of loose sand that the supers put down for a snow fall a few days ago. The snow is gone. The sand is slippery. Full speed crash around the corner and it sent me a good 10-15ft down hill in oncoming traffic. Luckily the only car coming up the hill was a good 45 seconds away.

I killed my bar ends, my gloves, my jeans and cut up my palm and fore arm. My jacket and bike survived unscathed.
