I added a few flakes of food to the tank to night to see if it’ll cycle or it’s established thru the live sand. I really shouldn’t take the cover off the canopy with the light on @_@
I picked up the saltwater aquarium from Brad yesterday, and completed the setup a little while ago. I’m pretty excited after seeing Chris’ (completed?) stack of live rock with his first corals (polyps).
Brad’s selling one of his tank (complete) setups for a very attractive price of $400 which I could easily cover thanks to an extra grand coming my way from work for a dev server I put together a couple of years ago. Apparently they didn’t realise they didn’t own it. Too funny sometimes. Anyways, I’d love to pick up the tank. I checked it out tonight and it’s exactly what I want, but I simply don’t have space for it because I got a new home for Chino (pictured right).
So, I’m going to eventually convert the tall tank I think; if I can’t master the planted setup. It’s really hard to keep on top of the maintanence when I really don’t care about it because it’s been such a fucking pain in my ass lately.
I came across a bunch of 8000K rated hqi bulbs on ebay, which is a rarity (on or off ebay) and at a price of $25 I figured I had to try them out since marine bulbs kinda suck for planted aquariums. The manufacturer (based in HK, new company) says these bulbs will induce photosynthesis in plants so it has to have red peaks. Atleast I hope it does.
The last few days with Paul in the office have been different, annual different. He still seems to be as hyper as usual, jumping from subject to subject but overall he’s been pretty cool because I’ve been able to just sit back and attack my .net code; which is finally getting some progress now that I’m over the stupid learning curve. I made some pretty good head way at a webform template class today which I need to finish off the admin section, and in general the webapp.
I set my camera’s auto bracketing to 2 stops so creating hdr shots are extremely easy to do. I seriously dunno how anyone could prefer the common fucked up tone mapping n00bs seem to do.
I went back to a layout I had shortly after I setup the tank (seen here); without the wisteria (hygrophila difformis). I’ve decided to simply remove it from my tank because it doesn’t match the rest of the tank even though it is an extremely cool looking plant once it’s huge. There’s a large clipping of it in the bala tank which seems to be doing fine; so I’m not worried about “losing” it. The java fern / drift wood is now in the bala tank and the rock stack has been removed. I’ll put up some pics after the water settles and clears up.
She relaxed while i took care of the fish and then proceeded to pose for the camera a little.
I came across a Takamine G220 at Guitar Clinic, thanks to the wicked sales guy in the store that didn’t try to take advantage of my price limit or knowledge (came in at 1/2 what I was willing to spend). It sounded so good when he played it that I was truely surprised. I had a hard time not giving it to her when I got home, but I called Chris and asked if I could stash it at his place. In a couple of weeks she’s gonna be blown away I hope.
It helps that she doesn’t read my blog.
This is the only time I’ve seen the the stigg mess up.
